The painted cans idea is still growing on me. I found out that there is an artist just up the road in Charlotte, NC who does this kind of work. I'm thinking that it wouldn't be too far off for us to see what he does first hand. See what he's up to at www.rikcat.com/artwork. I'm going to work on developing this idea for class.
