Gregory Crewsdon is another photographer who has some really striking images that sort of act as narratives to the lives of common people. I would describe him as a Edward Hopper meets Norman Rockwell on Rockwell's worst day of his life. Website
His images are realist fantasies that make strong use of light and vivid colors. If you could imagine the images that Rockwell would've painted had he grown up on the other side of the tracks, then you might be closer to understanding Crewdson. Combine this with the precision of Edward Hopper's (Nighthawks).
