Assissination Paintings: Too Far?

A Brazilian artist, Gil Vincente, depicts himself assassinating world leaders and notable figures. His series titled Inimigos (Enemies) include shootings, strangling, cuttings, etc...

What you think?  Should these be taken down due to the the threatening nature or left up because they are just expressions in paintings?  I really want to know what you think-- leave comments below.

  1. This article was extremely interesting and got me to thinking. I think that this artist might need so help, I think that he might have some issues he needs to work out. The art i think is amazing. The subject is repulsive, you can definitely see his talent though. These are charcoal drawings and they are very good. I think that they probably have a right to be displayed, however, I am not really sure about that either. I might have to think about this more. There is no question that this artist is talented, but in my opinion very disturbed. I can't quite answer if these pieces should be publicly displayed though.

  2. I'm on the fence too. I'd like to hear what more people have to say and, perhaps, get a follow up on what actually happens.

    Thanks for your response Becca.
