Hurricane Sandy while sweeping through NYC hurt many of the locally known art gallaries. One of these gallaries by the name of South Street Seaport Museum reports of the storm. Six feet of water was built up at the base of the door and five feet of water filled the entire place and destroyed pieces that were exposed. An estimated $800,000 was lost among 57 non-profit theators due to the storm.
