The Inspiration of Warhol

Andy Warhol, for a long time, has been one of my favorites.  This self portrait he did is really appealing to me, and for the colors for the biggest reason. It's so random yet, it really catches your eye. It also could be something said about maybe who he is, or his personality. The way the shadows are, the blackness and then the color, makes it look even crazier, yet cooler at the same time. This, and other paintings, seem to have no reason to them, just random. Although maybe the reason was only known to him. He did many other things that were simple and the idea was obvious, but this is one of his eye catching paintings that really gets you wondering the purpose behind it. Why the red white and blue? Why paint it in such a random pattern? And why on a self portrait? However, it has oddly inspired others to do the same or just to pursue art all together. It almost makes him look like a rebel, the way he painted this, which could have been the intention on his part.
