Traditional Paper Lanterns
paper lanterns have long been a symbol of festivity. used throughout the orient, lanterns, a form of art developed from the need for wind protected lighting has developed in many ways over the many years it has been in use. The best of lantern makers (for it was an occupation) worked on behalf of the Emperor. Those who did not have the honor of serving the Emperor, every year competed designs for great honor. Those that won this honor had their designs mimicked throughout the realm, quite an achievement!
