This piece,
entitled "Roots" is an example of the unique and revolutionary style of Frida Kahlo. After visiting the Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico City, I have always referred to her pieces as a reminder of how the femenist message of the mid-19th century has influenced the art world. She incorporates in nature and the motif of death in nearly all of her pieces. This self-portrait of Kahlo depicts roots growing from within herself. This piece is an example of her usage of nature and the connection between nature and women in her paintings.
nice writing!
