shipwreck! (1884)

There is a new Exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The new exhibit is Shipwreck and The Life Line by Winslow Homer. Homer's masterpiece The Life Line is the main piece of art work for the exhibit. The oil painting is ironically an image of an American rescue. The painting celebrates modern heroism. Picture this, huge waves, wind and spray of the sea water, and a helpless person having a struggle. Then the helpless person being rescued by a life line. Free admission goes to those who are firefighters, police officers, EMTs and others who rescue people in their community. http://www.philamuseum.org/exhibits/749.html
